MCP server
Sentrint's MCP server lets an AI coding app, such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or VS Code, start a security scan of your GitHub repository and read the findings. Add https://sentrint.com/mcp to the app and approve it once in your browser. There is no API key to copy.

Connect your app
Every app uses the same address, https://sentrint.com/mcp. There is no key to copy. The first time the app connects, your browser opens a Sentrint page where you approve it.
Claude Code
Run in a terminal.
claude mcp add --transport http sentrint https://sentrint.com/mcpCodex
Run in a terminal. The second command opens your browser to sign in.
codex mcp add sentrint --url https://sentrint.com/mcp
codex mcp login sentrintCursor
Add to ~/.cursor/mcp.json, then restart Cursor.

- Claude Desktop and claude.ai reach the server from Anthropic's cloud, not from your computer. Choose Register automatically when Claude asks how it identifies itself.
- Managed networks
- If your company filters traffic, ask IT to allow
sentrint.com. - Scripts and CI
- The MCP server only takes a sign-in made in a browser. For automation, use the REST API with an API key.
Approve it
- 1The app opens a page on
sentrint.com/mcp/connectin your browser. Sign in, or create an account. - 2Check the app's name, where your browser goes next, and the permissions. An app picks its own name, so approve only an app you started from just now.
- 3Choose Approve access or Deny. Your browser returns to the app, which is now connected.
The page shows the destination in a form you can check: the domain for a website, "an app on this computer" for a local address, and the full address for an app's own link. An approval page expires after 15 minutes.
Run a scan
You don't call the tools yourself. Ask the app in your own words:
Scan https://github.com/your-org/your-app with Sentrint and list the critical findings.
The app then makes three calls. Each opens its full reference.
- Push first
- Sentrint scans what is on GitHub, not the files on your computer. Push your branch before you ask.
- Cost
- Each new commit uses one scan from your plan. Scanning the same commit again is free.
- Branches and commits
- Leave out
branchto scan the default branch. Name one to scan its latest commit, and addcommit_shato scan one exact commit on it. A scan of another branch never changes the default branch's issues, score trend or badge. - Workspace
- The scan goes to the workspace that already tracks the repository, or else your first workspace.
- Private repositories
- On your Repositories page, use Choose repositories to let Sentrint read them. Until then, a private repository fails with
repository_unavailable.
Tools
5 tools, read and scan only. No tool can change your code, delete results, or see billing or API keys. The description under each name is the text the app reads to decide when to call it.
Scansentrint_scan_repoStart a scanscans:create
Start a scan
LinkStart a Sentrint security scan of a GitHub repository's pushed code. Give the repository URL, and optionally a branch (default: the repository's default branch) and a full 40-character commit SHA on that branch. Returns a submission_id at once; poll sentrint_scan_status with it. Each new commit uses one scan from the account's allowance. The same commit again is free while Sentrint's rules are unchanged; after they change, the old report stays free and a rescan needs force=true and costs one scan.
Not marked read-only, so apps ask you before they run it.
| Parameter | Type | Details |
|---|---|---|
repo_urlRequired | string | The GitHub repository, such as https://github.com/your-org/your-app. |
branchOptional | string | A branch to scan. Leave it out for the repository's default branch. |
commit_shaOptional | string | A full 40-character commit SHA on that branch, to scan one exact commit. |
forceOptional | boolean | Run the commit again under the current rules. Costs one scan, so the agent asks you first. Default False |

Readsentrint_scan_statusCheck a scanscans:read
Check a scan
LinkCheck a scan started with sentrint_scan_repo. Call again every 10 to 20 seconds until done is true, then follow next_step. A finished scan carries its score and counts by severity; a failed or cancelled one never finishes, so stop polling.
Marked read-only, so many apps run it without asking you first.

Permissions
An app asks for every permission below unless it names fewer, and the approval page lists what it asked for. A tool the app was not allowed returns insufficient_scope. Reconnect and approve again to change them.
| Permission | Allows | Used by |
|---|---|---|
scans:create | Start scans of your repositories | sentrint_scan_repo |
scans:read | See your scans and their progress | sentrint_scan_status, sentrint_list_scans |
findings:read | Read the findings of your scans and their fix prompt | sentrint_get_findings, sentrint_get_fix_prompt |
Limits
| What | Limit | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| Scans started from AI apps | 20 calls a day | Per account, reset at 00:00 UTC. Every call counts, even one that reuses a scan of the same commit. Your plan's scan allowance applies as well. |
| Starting scans | 10 a minute | Per connected app |
| Checking a scan | 120 a minute | Per connected app |
| Reading findings and scans | 60 a minute | Per connected app |
| All requests | 600 every 10 minutes | Per account, across the API and every app |
The usual scan limits still apply: one running scan per workspace, repository size and file limits, and your plan's allowance. A finding's file path is cut to 300 characters and its message to 600 before the app reads them. sentrint_get_findings returns up to 100 findings a page, and sentrint_list_scans up to 50 scans.
Errors
A failed call returns an error that starts with a code, then a colon and a sentence:
daily_limit: AI apps can start 20 scans a day on one account. Start more from https://sentrint.com/dashboard/new.
Apps show it to you or act on it. A scan that fails after it was accepted is not an error: sentrint_scan_status returns done as true, with error_code and error_detail.
| Code | Means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
unauthorized | The connection was revoked or has expired. | Reconnect the app and approve it again. |
insufficient_scope | The app was not allowed to do this when you approved it. | Reconnect and approve the permission it needs. |
terms_required | Sentrint's terms changed since you last accepted them. | Open the dashboard once and accept them. |
daily_limit | AI apps on this account already made 20 scan calls today. | Wait for 00:00 UTC, or start the scan from the dashboard. |
quota_exhausted | Your plan's scan allowance is used up. | Waiting will not help. Check your plan. |
rate_limit_exceeded | Too many calls in a short window. | Slow down. Status checks every 10 to 20 seconds are enough. |
repository_unavailable | Sentrint could not reach the repository on GitHub. | Check the URL. For a private repository, use Choose repositories on your Repositories page. |
repository_too_large | The repository is over the size or file limits. | Scan a smaller repository. |
commit_not_on_branch | That commit is not on the branch you named. | Push it, or leave out commit_sha to scan the branch tip. |
invalid_input | A parameter is missing or malformed. | Fix the value the error names. |
internal_error | Sentrint hit an error of its own. | Try again shortly. |
Security
- Same checks as the API
- Each connection works through a hidden key of its own. Every call runs the same owner, permission, terms, rate-limit and allowance checks as the REST API. The hidden key never works as a REST key, and it does not count toward your 10 API keys.
- Repository text is data
- Findings and branch names come from the repository that was scanned, so they could contain text written to steer a model. Results that carry it say
"untrusted_content": true, and hidden characters and line breaks are removed from that text before the app reads it. - Tokens
- Access tokens last 1 hour. The app renews them with a refresh token that works once and lasts 30 days. Sentrint stores only hashes of them. A refresh token or sign-in code used twice ends the whole connection, because it means someone else holds a copy.
- Connection lifetime
- A connection ends after 30 days unused, or 365 days after you approved it, whichever comes first. Then approve the app again.
- Bound to this server
- Tokens are issued for
https://sentrint.com/mcponly, and the server turns away browser requests from other sites. - Audit log
- Every approval and disconnect appears in your Audit logs.
- What is kept
- An app registration that was never approved is deleted after 7 days. Daily call counts for the usage charts are kept 90 days.
Disconnect
Open MCP settings and choose Disconnect next to the app. It loses access on its next call. Scans it already started keep running and stay in your history.
For client developers
The server follows the MCP authorization spec. A client that supports remote servers with OAuth needs nothing beyond the address.
| Endpoint | Purpose |
|---|---|
https://sentrint.com/mcp | The MCP endpoint. Streamable HTTP over POST, JSON responses, no session to hold. Without a token it returns 401 with a WWW-Authenticate header that points to the resource metadata. |
https://sentrint.com/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp | Protected resource metadata (RFC 9728). Also served at /.well-known/oauth-protected-resource. |
https://sentrint.com/.well-known/oauth-authorization-server | Authorization server metadata (RFC 8414). |
https://sentrint.com/register | Dynamic client registration (RFC 7591). |
https://sentrint.com/authorize | Authorization code flow. PKCE with S256 is required. |
https://sentrint.com/token | Code exchange and refresh. Refresh tokens rotate on every use. |
https://sentrint.com/revoke | Token revocation (RFC 7009). Revoking any token ends the whole connection. |
- Registration
- Register 1 to 5 redirect URIs of up to 512 characters, with no fragment. Allowed:
httpon127.0.0.1,localhostor::1;httpson a public domain name; or your app's own scheme. Browser and system schemes are refused. Public clients register withtoken_endpoint_auth_methodset tononeand use PKCE; a client with a secret can useclient_secret_postorclient_secret_basic. - Authorization
- Send
